Chemise – The Need to Have Lingerie

I hope everyone had an exciting crossover to the new decade. With a new year comes a new shot at doing something great. A new decade, however, comes with a special level of growth and maturity. This means we do a lot more reflecting and planning ahead than with a typical new year.

Reflection can also have us peeking into our past and strolling down memory lane. For many ladies, lingerie is closely linked to our growth and maturity as individuals. Since it truly is a form of self-expression many of us can draw a timeline of the different stages in our life using the types and styles of lingerie we favored and wore.  From the initial transition from cotton to lace, full briefs to thongs, and socks to garters. Lingerie is a clear clue into our personal journeys and revolutions.

The new decade also signals a shift and with feelings of nostalgia come equal feelings of change. A great way to do this is to try something new. One piece of lingerie I always recommend is the chemise, or “slip”. The chemise is a simple underdress that is designed to be worn beneath clothes for a more comfortable feel and to reduce wear and tear of the clothes. They can also be worn as nightdresses. Made from satin or silk, these pieces are the benchmark of a well put together look and serve as elegant and simple nightwear as well.
