Let Your Bra Shine — Underwear as Outerwear
Not that we’re biased, but how could underwear as outerwear not be our favorite trend this season? Here at Lavinia Lingerie we believe that beautiful lingerie should be celebrated as often as possible—and luckily, designers this season seem to agree.
For Fall/Winter 2018, the Loewe runway showcased bras worn over checked dresses, while Thom Brown paired lingerie styling with grey flannel in Paris. Away from the runways, meanwhile, influencers are picking up where Madonna’s iconic conical bra left off: think Kim Kardashian in a bodysuit, or Kendall Jenner in a lace bralette layered over a tee. Ready to try the trend? Here’s how.

Play peek-a-boo with your bra
We’ve seen street style stars layering their bras over tops and dresses this season, but there are other ways to let your bra shine. Try a deep V dress that gives a glimpse or your bralette underneath, or we also love a tailored jacket worn with just your bra underneath for 80s Madonna vibes. A black plunge or triangle bra is a classic for this look: try the sexy sheer triangle bra by Addiction Nouvelle Effrontee, $86, or Lavinia’s lace plunge bra, $32. For a splash of color, though, dial it up with the Cosima sheer lace underwire bralette by Vova, $34, in a bright shade or turquoise, or Lavinia’s deep pink Raspberry Kiss lace plunge bra, $35.

Define your waist
Of course, no discussion of underwear as outerwear is complete without the bustier and corset. If you’re tempted to layer your corset over a classic white shirt for a new season spin, a suitable waist cincher, is a great way to get the look. A bustier, meanwhile, is an eveningwear classic that just never goes out of style. Rosme’s Gabriela houndstooth corset bustier, $30, has a vintage appeal, or get an edgier look with the Celine sexy sheer strappy corset, $41, by Gorteks.
