14 Common Misconceptions About Sexy

Dear Lovelies,

One of the most popular characteristics of lingerie is that it is considered sexy. More often, the image that comes to mind is red, lace and tightfitting. However, the question of the day is, what is sexy? What exactly does it mean to be, look and feel sexy? Certainly, there is more of a “je ne sais qoui” component to the feeling. But the other two still raise the question. Today we will be addressing common misconceptions of sexy and highlighting some of our favorite pieces as well.

In order to do so, we must first at least define the word sexy. By definition, it is, sexually suggestive or stimulating erotic. Something that is generally attractive or interesting. While this certainly does give us a blanket and yet the direct feel of what sexy is. I like to think of sexy as confidence. It’s the feeling and look that shows we know just what we are worth, and that is a compelling factor that draws others to us.

Now that we have a basic understanding of sexy here are a few misconceptions.

Always Explicit. Sexy doesn’t require that you be completely exposed. While explicit clothing and styles are certainly appealing. You do not have to dress so to be sexy. For a more subvert styling try our Eminent Night Dress by Amoralle, Mesh Mini Nightdress by Amoralle and Sheer Polka Dot Slip by Ajour.

Not a Tease. Quite contrary some of the more alluring lingerie are our best sellers. Why? The thrill of the chase. Some prefer a tasteful tease before the main event. If you or your partner fall into this category try out our sheer items; Control Panty by Antinea Lise Charmel, Allegro Night Dress by Ajour and L’insoumise Bra by Aubade.

Can’t be Erotic. By definition sexy is erotic, and that means sometimes giving full view is the ticket. Not everyone is into the peek-a-boo games of sheer lingerie or the more subvert stylings. If you and your partner are fans of the go big or go home ideology then look no further; Elegy Bustier by Ajour, Mesh Bodysuit by Amoralle and Imagine Open Cup Bra by Axami.

What category did you fall under, remember the sexiest thing about you is confidence.

I’ve been married for 40+ years..(yeah, married young). I consider my wife sophisticated sexy. Always wears fine lingerie, and ‘fitted/tailored’ dress…which extenuates her attributes …a hint of cleavage, slacks which compliment her rear, a hint of perfume, etc. To compliment this is her confidence /intelligence and zest for life.
At 60/years old she still turns heads (without trying) she//we have aged graciously like a fine wine…and that’s sexy.
