When to Shop for New Lingerie
Hey Darlings,
We are nearing the end of February, yes folks we have officially reached the end of the second month of the new decade. In honor of this, we are going to be doing something that we should have done months ago. It is something that most of us need but continues to avoid, we do it after a breakup, a significant birthday, or a particularly bad phase in our lives. Decluttering.
Decluttering is simply getting rid of clutter, this is not always necessarily actual trash, meaning while for some of us, decluttering may look like taking out weeks old bins and finally vacuuming the bottom of the desk we never really make eye contact with, for others decluttering is simply getting rid of things we no longer want or need. i.e. your exes’ sweater, the Justin Bieber poster you had in middle school, or pieces from a moment in your life that simply isn’t worth, or too hurtful to remember. Regardless of what your reasons may be, I find it hard to ever critique an honest declutter. One kind of decluttering most of us tend to avoid is our lingerie.
Yup, I said it. We got rid of the sweater, but “somehow” forgot the bra and panties set were also a gift from the ex, we threw out the poster but won't budge on our first pair of garters, even though they stopped being effective two dress sizes ago. Truth is lingerie decluttering can be a painful moment and one most of us would like to avoid, this is because lingerie for most women is essentially a time stamp, and a picture into the journey we have made.
While I sympathize with the thought, holding on too tightly to the past is never a good idea and wearing things that no longer serve their purpose-yes, I’m staring at you garters, is painfully cringe. To avoid this, I have compiled a shortlist of ways to know when its time to say the final goodbyes.
- Have the bands lost their grip/elasticity? Let it go
- Is it now a fusion of dry-cleaning colors? Let it go
- Did you have it when you were below the age of 17? Need I say more?
- Does it itch? Not only is this cringe, but its also very unhealthy.
- Does it no longer fit right/serve its purpose? Let it go.
I know we have all had to say goodbye to quite a few of our treasured pieces after running down that list but I’m here to tell you it was for the best. Now make way for our newest collection, Patrice by Vova Lingerie.
